Smaller skimmer

Do you guys have any plans to make alittle smaller skimmer? I only have 7.5" clearance above my sump to get something in (if i get it in i have the 24" room for the skimmer) i just cant get it in.

Hi Nick,

Sorry, no plans right now to make a smaller version. Even though it seems easy to just cut off the bottom few inches of the cone, it would mean redesigning nearly everything to get it working well, including most likely a new pump.

Yea i understand it would be pretty difficult. Let me ask this... the tube itself is 7.5" right? and the flange makes it 9" or so...
I have a 2x4 right infront of my sump so I have exactly 7.5" clearance between the rim of the sump and the bottom of the 2x4. Beyond that I have about 30" of total height... do you think i could work the skimmer in there through the 7.5" opening?

Nick, the flange is exactly 9". I tested this today with a 2x4 as your describing and it would very close. You would need to put the peg legs on and the pump after it was in the sump for sure. Additionally you might need to bump the edges of the flanges off a touch with a sander but it should be pretty easy since it is in kit form. We could do this for you if you like.

I could handle moding the flange alittle once its here.

It is honestly hard to say, they don't give too much information on the pump. It couldn't hurt trying it out and if you decide in the next 3 months to upgrade to our psk1000 then we will honor the current combo pricing.
