snail id ???

Question , i have a snail that has to be atleast 5 inchs long , it has taken over a large hermit crab shell,it only comes out at night and bury's itself in the day in my sand , i will try to get a picture, just wondering if this guy is bad ?

Well, snails can't really take over hermit shells, so if it has a snail in the shell, it was there already. Hard to say whether it's a bad guy without a pic or description, though. Try to get a pic (including the opening side, so you might have to take it out of the tank to photograph it).
