he seems to have gone straight to work on the hair algae on the sand...exactly what i got it for...so i hope that is what they sold me, and not some crazy nocturnal reef killing machine...

Unfortunately... that's a crazy nocturnal SNAIL killing machine. He's a predator, Melongena corona (called a Crown Conch but not a true conch). Fighting Conchs are true conchs, and are herbivores. This one you got isn't, and isn't equipped to eat algae.

Cheers,

Don

damn are you serious....Stupid me for believing the guy at the LFS...

well i would hate to kill it by sticking it in my fuge...what else will it eat? will it survive in my fuge there are no snails i know of in there...just macros..

how fast is it going to wipe out my Nassarius snails? right now he is hiding behind the rocks and i cant get him...i will try in the morning though..

they like lots of meaty foods, fresh market shrimp, crab meat would all work. Or you can try market clams, just crack them open and feed.

M.corona make awesome pets, they are very neat to observe in behavior and feeding. The animal deserves a tank of its own and it can make a wonderful pet for you.
