Snails and Crabs - Can they catch Ich?

so how would you safely know if you can put them in the tank? The tank they came out of had no signs of ich but I would like to be sure before putting them in the display...

Basically what's the best course of action when adding snails and crabs to the tank? They are in QT at the moment with the fish I got from the same guy.

typically a FW dip is a good way to kill parasites. the problem is that a salinity change of that magnitude will probably kill any invert, so that's illadvised for hermits/snails/etc. if the tank had ich, chances are the fish you have would have it too.

a FW dip will not harm the hermits in any way. there perams are far different than other inverts because of their behavior in the wild going from high tide to low tide. snails and hermits can be carriers and in some extreme cases killed by ick. You should be able to see the parasites same as on other livestock. it effects hermits and other crabs differently because of the exo skel.

So a freshwater (RO/DI) dip then if I see no ich I should be safe? I just want to be sure and try prevent getting ich in the tank...

Hermits can walk around on land for hours.. I don't think a little FW is going to make them melt.

Reef hermits do not stay out of water that long.
