if they are, call fish and game on'em.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure any game fish is illegal to keep or sell.

they might be a snook cichlid, a hybrid that you get from crossing a red devil cichlid and your regular snook. envitro fertilization maybe??? not too sure on how correct I am, maybe some one else can school me on this.

a snook and a cichlid can never hybridize. there may very well be some type of large characin (tetra) being given the 'snook' name though.

yup, gamefish are illegal to sell, especially undersized ones that are illegal anyway.

The fish are a type of cichlid. I noticed them once while in a LFS Aquarium Creations over in Brandon. I can not remember the name though. At first glance while passing the tank I also thought they were Snook.:eek1: Because of there shape color and that dark line on their sides.:D

Snook cichlids are orangeish in color definately dont have a dark line down the side. My brother has one in his freshwater tank. That would be crazy if it actually was a saltwater snook.

Those snooks are definitely cichlids like you were saying. I used to have em when I had freshwater... I had em with peacock bass and an arowana. Sweet things. They are purely freshwater fish and are a lot like red devils.

Here's the name on the tag at Aquarium Creations for these fish (Compressiceps ) . They were in the cichlids section. :)

The compressiceps is that african cichlid that looks like a snook. There is a snook cichlid that just started to get introduced into the hobby a couple years ago. It really looks nothing like those gamefish everyone is thinking of. That compressiceps looks more like a snook. Maybe they should call those guys a snook cichlid.
