Snorkeling Locally

One of my friends and I wanted to go Snorkeling Sat. morning. I was thinking john pennekamp but its kinda far since I have to be back by 3. Ive heard about the jacks in Hollywood but where exactly are they and are they any good? Any other areas locally thats are easy to get to from shore? Thanks...

you are brave, this is too cold for me to snorkle, Red reef in Boca is a nice place to snorkle, here is the info

hi bret, theres quite a few nice spots to go off the beach for a snorkel, the best reef is the pompano ledges that is just south of the commercial fish peir, but its a decent swim, however the inner reef is pretty nice also, you have to cross a open sandy area before you reach the first reef, which is only about 50-75 feet past the bouys. the euro jacks are also a nice spot to check out, however both of these spots are a hit or miss, visibility is contoled by the tide and seas, if its a windy day, dont expect much since they are so close to shore. it easily becomes cloudy, but you might get lucky. the euro jacks are by Jhon U loyd beach state park. they also are a nice spot, and shallow, key biscane has a lot of nice places but im not a

The winds are picking up so going from the beach is out of the question. The waves are going to kill you if you do. I would check out south florida diving headquaters, they usually have a couple of trips a day at pretty good prices. Good luck.
