snow flake eel

I have had a snowflake eel for a year now with several openings in the lid. When I first got him he tried getting out several times and I caught him in the act so I duct taped any openings. Now he doesn't ever try to escape. I feed him twice a day with shrimp and squid from the grocery store. I cut a peice about the size of his head and feed it to him on a feeding stick attached to rigid airline tube so I can get in some hard to reach places for him and my big hermits. I find feeding twice a day really settles them down. Feed once every 2 days and he will always be on the hunt for food inside your tank and out. I use massive filtration though with a huge fuge and a big octo recirc skimmer so my water doesn't take too bad a hit. I am what reefers refer to as a heavy feeder(and my fish really like me -they tell me so)

I guess im just lucky,

I own a large snowflake, for two years now. I bought him when he was small. he has never tried to escape my tank and my hood is completely open in the back. I feed him krill most of the time. He really enjoys the live shrimp I buy from the bait store, as a treat. I have a 180 gal tank and he has a spot under the rocks that he seems verry satisfied with.

Good luck with yours. Does anyone know how long they live?
