Shark breeding? Any from the bamboo shark family? Epaulettes? Catsharks? Or maybe rays? I'm not searching through this whole forum for this. Too lazy :D

Not really practicle from a "breed for profit" standpoint. It can be done, in fact there is a huge glut of bamboo sharks in the US because they breed so easily. If you just want the experience plan on a very large tank with heavy filtration. Most "traditional" rectangular aquariums are not really the best choice, too narrow front to back. A custom 300 96L X 30W X 24T might be OK but the standard tanks of 24" width probably won't cut it. Round pools are better with oval pools being optimal. Try to avoid corners, if you build something rectangular bevel off the corners at 45 degrees. I'd choose the marbeled catshark if you are really interested, one of the smaller sharks and they sell well. It sounds like you already know this but just in case- beware the term "catshark". Brownbanded and whitespotted bamboo sharks are commonly sold as catsharks. They are NOT. They get 40" or so.

One thing I should mention, the shark species that are appropriate for "small" tanks (l1000 gallons or less) and captive breeding are among the absolutley most BORING fish in the entire world. They are not gonna cruise the tank elegantly like a blacktip or leopard, they mostly just lie about. They do get active at night and I found having a red light in the room did not disturb them and gave me something to enjoy after "lights out" on the other tanks. Just something to consider.

Check Mote marine laboratory in FL they have done some shark breeding.

Also one of the owners of the Home Depot wants to try breeding whale sharks at the Georgia Aquariums wich he funds.

Hmm well... I wonder if they actually sell any of those eapulettes at $225 :D CB marbled catsharks go for as low as under $40 wholesale in LA. Now the CORAL catshark would be fantastic but I have never seen any available.

David, I can vouch that they do breed them there, I've seen there setup personally. As for actually selling them, thats another story. They are a little high priced.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great IF they can get that much for them. That would actually encourage me to pursue my shark breeding passion, which up 'til now has seemed totally impracticle.

Not sure I wanna wait 12 years though...
