i just got a frag of xenias and my sally legs quietly walked over to my xenias and riped them to sherds.. i found the the bits around my tank and put them on a piece of small rock and put that weeding vail around them with a rupperband.

My question is will them survive?

Don't be surprised if the bits float around your tank for a while and find places to attach and start growing like crazy. Your Xenia eater won't be able to keep up with it. Did you ever see that Star Trek episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles"? That's Xenia.

On the subject of xenia, I've always had a TON in my tank, and have had to remove them to make room for other corals. I was planning on selling some back to the LFS for credit recently.

Only trouble is that about a week ago, they shrunk up, and have been slowly wasting away since then. I've heard of everyone having a xenia meltdown at some point, and they've been in my tank for 2 years now, so maybe that's their life cycle of the original piece that spread everywhere? I dunno. It could have also been the slightest residue of fluke tabs on some equipment somewhere too.

At least my tank has more room for the corals that I like :) My candy canes appreciate the extra room, and my monti caps will soon too.
