Sure there not aptasia i had them in the tank and they were big i just spent a long time today getting them out looks exactly they same not saying i would know

They look like pineapple sponges to me as well...

The PS has a thicker rounded body like a pineapple with much shorter tentacles such as in the OP's pix.

Aiptasia have more of a whimsical body with longer flowing tentacles...

Also mcgyvr that is a GREAT link, I had never seen that one before, Kudos!!!

Agreed. Pineapple sponges look like a white pineapple. Aiptasia have a relatively thin column and long tentacles.

In my reef tank there is a direct correlation between how fast these grow in my sump and plumbing and water changes. If i am busy and skip a water change or put off for a few days and over feed .

but as everyone else said they are good not harmful at all but would be ugly to have in the display itself

well i spent like 3 hours yesterday getting sponges out of my tank (wish i didn't)

Won't really be a problem either way. It is very likely that you didn't get every last one so they will likely repopulate if the water chemistry allows.
