Soft coral rotting at the base

Hi-

I am still a newbie at the sport, 1-21-07, and am having a major problem. I had a califlower coral that seemed to rot half way up the stem and died. Then I got a rock with two zenia on them and they rotted at the base and died. Have had a kenya tree for 1 month now and it seems to be rotting at the base. This weekend got a BEAUTIFUL fiji tree that seems to be following the same route. CAN ANYONE HELP ME???

Good water movment can be very important to stop soft corals colapsing on themselves and creating anoxic conditions around the base. This leads to the infection.

I would be checking basic water parrams Amonia, Nitrite make sure tank is fully cycled ??

What sort of substrate are they on / in?

Thanks for the advise. My tank has fully cycled, 130lbs live rock,
80 lbs live sand. I was not dosing my tank with additional calcium and now am. Also, got an extra powerhead in there now and everything seems to be VERY HAPPY!!
