I have a rock of yellow polyps. On that peice of rock I have some zoo's growing it.

I was wondering if I can cut them off and place them on a different piece of rock. if i can, how?

Yea, you can. Just take a razor or ect and take them off. Don't do it in the tank but take the rock out and remove them.

also if you cut the zoos, please use gloves as you could get a bit of rash or some such reaction, they have some pretty toxic stuff inside them they may just let out on you, so get some latex gloves before you cut them up.

Better still try getting under them with a chisel or such and popping them off and re-gluing them to a new rock. Careful with the zoas though and wash hands afterwards.

About the latex glove comment. If you use them, don't use the powdered gloves. You wouldn't want to introduce that into your tank.

should you use gloves for all corals??

About my yellow polyps. I have a 75 gal tank and I have the polyps in the middle. then did great with PC but I just upgraded to 250 watt MH. should I lower them?

Gloves would be a good idea anytime you frag a coral, not needed but they all can potentially poison you, now... it isnt going to be real bad but you could get a nasty rash, and depending on what you do... wipe sweat off your face... eat a cookie... etc you could end up with one in a pretty annoying place.

Please do be carefull. I have heard some scarey things about zoo toxin Palytoxin. Its on the web Scarey stuff

Pyro, i would go to a hobby shop and get some GEL superglue, if it is a soft coral, try some Bride Veil type material to hold the frag down to the rock just tie it down somehow, then let is attach itself, glue on a soft coral doesnt work real well. Also try not to have th ecoral out of water for more than 30 minutes or so.

you herd right. Palytoxin is the most toxic natural toxin known to man. where your gloves, and wash your hands afterwards!!

about the yellow polpys, should I lower them or keep them in the middle of the tank??

I have a 75 gal, 2 250 watt MH

i suggest putting them lower, they are softie and that is probably to bright for them.

good luck with the zoos. :)

Well I attempted transferring the Zoo's, so far no rash.

thanks to all for the help. if anyone wants to see how my first transplant goes i'll keep you posted.
