I have had this coral for over a year but have never found out what it is!
:)

I have 2 queries ....
One is what is it?

And the second is .....
We had a tank crash about 6 weeks ago and lost some fish, and a couple of corals.
Since getting the levels back to where they should be this particular coral does not come out like it used to?

One pic shows it all lanky and wavy like it has been since we got it, the other is what it has been like for a couple of weeks now.

Was ok right after the crash, just started closing up once the levels settled back down?
Is also browner now than it used to be. :(
Hoping that is just the nutrient levels that shot through the roof, and it will slowly get some colour back now they are back to almost zero.

Nitrite and amonia are both zero, nitrate is still a little high at 10. But better than the 160+ it shot to!!!
Ouch.

Any help and ideas with this will be greatly appreciated!

:)

are those the same coral, because one looks like either a frogspawn or a hammer (the first one), i think its a hammer, and the 2nd pic kinda looks like some type of candycane coral, but that is just me i could be wrong but just my 2 cents

I will have to take another photo i think.. :)

It really is the same piece of coral.......
Not 2 separate pieces.
Hence my queries as to why it is not long and lanky like the first pic.
:)

It does look like SOME of the pics for a Euphyllia (paraancora).
But my other 2 corals look more like the hammer corals than this one does.
With the t shaped heads and the green colouring.

If this is what i have, then why is it not long and lanky anymore?
:(

Ok, i have finally taken another shot of this guy! :)
It has also started to regrow the long feeders that it had!

And in reply to previous comments about the 2 previous pictures.......
Once again......they REALLY are the same coral!
Not 2 different ones...hahaha.
They do look sooo very different i know, that is why i posted this query.

Whatever upset it, it seems to be on the mend again.
So fingers crossed i'll be able to post another pic in a few more weeks of it long and lanky again!.
