Solar Wrasse Aggression

Merry Christmas Everyone! My Solar Wrasse has started attacking my week old Excuisite Wrasse. I have had him for a week like I said and I had another wrasse that was vicious towards the excuisite, so I got rid of the vicious one. Now the solar one is attacking. Is it them establishing the heirarchy? Will they resolve it? I really like both fish. Any suggestions?

solarius wrasses can get aggresive ,i usually move some of the rockwork around a bit so give that a wirl if they get back at it !

With a 120 (if I understood you correctly), I'd say you're alright. Apart from the Six-Line and a few others, most wrasses will co-habituate, in due time. If the Exq. wrasse won't defend his territory, might I suggest a totally untested approach...put an additional wrasse in there! It will either be the end of said Exq. Wrasse (so be it) or just the distraction he/she needed! Let the dominant wrasses squabble over territory while the Exq chills out...

I have a Solar, Melanurus, Dot-Dash among a few (Lemonpeel Angel, etc.) others in a 55. All introduced at different times.

Wrasses Rock! I really like them!

Keep in touch...let us know how it's going.

My Solar is probably the most aggressive wrasse in my tank by far. He chased around my new male Red Velvet for a few days until they are finally swimming around together. He also chased around my stud Girdled male for a day. These wrasses were a def eye opener that its time to start using the acclimation box...as I wasn't sure when it would be needed with a newer tank.

I have a female eight line flasher and a blue flasher in quarantine right now and they'll go in the acclimation box for sure.

Nice wrasse selection BT! Funny but my experience was reversed from yours. I recently added my first two fairy wrasses. A male Solar and a similarly sized male Red Velvet fairy.

After sharing a divided acclimation box the two have done well since being released into the display a few weeks ago. Although they're the same size the Red Velvet seems to be the more assertive of my two. The RV gets aggressive at night as he flashes at his reflection. A couple of weeks ago that escalated into a serious altercation between the two but I simply tossed some food into the tank and it distracted them to the point that they seemed to forget about things.

While the RV still does his nightly dance. There haven't been any more battles between the two.

I thought I was the only one... my solar wrasse tore my mystery wrasse to shreds. He was then subsequently torn to shreds by my powder blue tang. I got him out in time to save him. His fins have regenerated and now i have the worlds nicest sump fish. maybe I will be able to trade him to someone for a chunk of green slimer or something. sigh.
