ok you gotta share those settings - I will be returning my S3 and going back to my Olympus 765 if I can not get some quality photos in the next few days...

try reading photography for dummie, i am being serious that how i learn about aperture and shutter speed and other basic things. another thing you might want to do is put the canon s3 into manual mode and play with it and take test picture and use the software that come with the canon and edit the pic. i dont really know what are the settings because i dont really pay attentions. 250G i promise once you learn how to use this camera you will like it alot. i took over 200 pictures before i got them to look like that and i am still not happy with the result 100%. hope that help u a little. also on the home page of reefcentral there is an article on how to take close up picture

I can get great photos (including macros) of objects close to the glass, but find the camera/lens has a great deal of difficulty focussing in on objects towards the middle and back of the tank. Picture seems fine until I hold the button down...help :)

My 4MP Olympus ultrazoom on the other hand has no difficulty...

Gotta figure this out before th end of the week so I can exchange it for another ultra-zoom if I am not happy with the results.

get a tripod or make sure that power head are turned off and it might focus better.

Thanks fo the tip. I always use a tripod, but have never tried turning the pumps off - I will give that a shot today. Really think the water movement is what is causing the problem for the lens??? Or is it me?

I took all the pictures in this tread with my Olympus - literally point and shoot, with significant changes to the white balance (manual which I LOVE) and minor changes to apature and sutter spead. I hope to acheive similar results with my S3 in the next couple days for objects in the middle and back of my tank.
