some shots please critique

All three look good, maybe just a tad dark for my taste. It would be nice if you could brighten up the clown - as his face gets a little lost.

In my opinion, I would say zoom out just a tad, example, you cut off one of the tips of the bubble. Maybe a hair too dark but I think the framing being a little too tight is the biggest issue.

Thanks on the Framing I though so.

So I set shutter speed here to get the camera where I wanted it light wise, but it was either too washed out or too dark, Can i adjust both shutter and exposure? I seem to only be able to control one at a time. Or should I be messing with white balance?

I know, go take more pictures and figure it out...This is by far some of the more challenging lighting ive dealt with. that and only having a 3.5 180 macro lense...

and On too dark I was, a little worried about that my self. thanks guys, all critique is good critique

Yeah. The trifecta of iso, shutter speed , and aperture. Once you figure out how thew work together it will all come together. Ot seems like a lot but its really not, it's a big give and take. And the less light you have to work with the more you have to sacrafice.

Higher iso the grainier your shots will be, but the less light you need for your exposure. The less light you have the larger the aperature(smaller the number the larger the shutter opens)you will need to get more light but you sacrafice depth of field (though big enough aperture=bokeh, sweet subject separation). And of course shutter speed. The less light you have, the slower or longer the shutter needs to stay open to collect what light is available. And once you get below 1/80th of a second hand held shots are likely to get blury.

And as for white balance.... yeah shooting out side of the human eyes color capabilities, well those that making digital camera sensors don't seemkto see as a high priority.

Ill see if I can locate a decent link to a basic explanation on this subject.

Oh and one other question, do you know how to use your light meter in you view finder?

That's funny, I was thinking just the opposite on that one. . .zoom in. I tend to be a less is more person. There's no question that I'm looking at an anemone even if one of the tentacles is cropped out. The only critique I had for that particular photo was the other anemone (or is that frogspawn) on the right side of the frame is a bit distracting, and I would have cropped it out.

Anyway, very nice photos!
