Some snorkeling spots off Clearwater Beach

I'll be over in Clearwater beach (Reddington Beach) around christmas time, and found some ideas on snorkeling sites. The one I'm really looking at going to is Fort Desoto Park. Are there are good places to rent gear around there, and that Desoto Park my best bet to see the local marine life?

Desota is ok...better yet is Fred T. Howard Park...just north of Clearwater.....drive about 1/2 way out the bridge to the park...on the north side is a huge spring...usually big jewfish there...and all around it in the grass is all kinds of life....bring a wet suit...water is cold now!
