AC has a good bit of zoas and some rics for good deals. They seemed to have beefed up their stock for our meeting and they usually offer a hefty discount during the meeting.
I don't know much about those tanks, but it looks to me like it isn't really and issue of the tank being level... I think that the return pump is agitating the surface too much (especially on the one side) and that this turbulent water is then flowing over the sides. The back corner (toward their display tank) is almost crystal clear and, unless they've changed it, is also farthest away from where the returns are pointed.
Either way, I do feel you on smashing your head on the light
Could be Brian. I really haven't examined it much but that sounds like it would cause that problem. Maybe if they aimed the returns a little different it would fix it. I have an external overflow on one end of my tank and when my oceans motions is blowing away from it there isn't much water going over but when it is blowing to it from the other end the water really flows.
