Spear Fishing Anyone?

Hey guys,

Occasionaly my work requires me to travel. Sometimes when I travel, my wife and son decide to do something nice for daddy. Well this time when I came home, I had a "cool blue eyed yellow tang in my tank."

Anyone care to guess what the fish really is?

If anyone wants a blue eyed angel, and feels like capturing it from my tank, you can have it for free. Otherwise... I am going to need to borrow a spear gun. He is quite readily munching on all my sps. Oh... if anyone has any ideas for how to get him out I am down to hear them.

Love,

Shane....

PS-It was really hard not to throw my wife/kid in the tank and make them stay they until they fished the fish out. But, I know they were trying to do something nice so I am still trying not to explode. he he he...

Put a net in the tank for a few hours and then put some frozen food in it. This method hasn't let me down yet. I've taken over 20 fish out of my tank in the past 16 months. I have a 90gal with more rocks to hind in the water to swim in :D

you can also try making a bottle trap. Get a plastic bottle that looks big enough for the fish you want to catch cut the top off about 3-4" from the top turn it upside down and insert it into the bottom half of the bottle either tape it in place or drill a hole in each corner and zip tie it on and place it in the tank on it's side with some sand in it to weigh it down place some food in it and soon the fish will swim into it to eat when they do turn it upright and you caught the fish. I have an extra trap sitting around you can have it if you want.

Might take you up on that Shaggy. My wife picked it up at Tongs sunday night after I flew out... I wonder if they will let me exchange the little SOB.

Anyone got any bait ideas? So far I have tried Mysis and bloodworms. He didn't seem interested in either. (he's probably full from munching on all my corals)

I had thought about that, but I wasn't sure which one to pick. He seems to be eating a little of everything... kinda like my reef was a f:furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious: buffet or something.

Ok... so I made a bottle trap, but he is too big to fit in it.... grrr.... I have tried finding a suitable bait, but he doesn't seem interested in anything I put in there. I suppose I am going to try krill next. I am about to put a bounty on this fish and anyone willing to net him can have the bounty. I am losing patience rather quickly with the little yellow spawn of satan.

you can build a trap from eggcrate also, it's basically a box with a rubberband loaded hinged door and some fishing line or floss as a trigger

You know where there is a DIY for the eggcrate fishtrap? That might be just the ticket. So after you make the trap, just put some food in a little pouch or something?

Thanks.

When push comes to shuv I break-out the tackle box and go fishin. Just hope you dont get the wrong fish. LOL
