Spider Thing

This is in a friend's aquarium. I have no idea what this is, but it's weird and creepy enough that I thought I'd post the pic here to see if any of you have ever seen anything like this! It looks just like a land spider, but it lives underwater and scurries across the rocks just as pods do. I have had no luck looking online for an ID.

Any ideas?

There is an aquatic spider, Argyroneta aquatica, but I didn't find anything about it living in saltwater.

Is this critter still in the tank?

He says it's dead now. Probably better off that way!
