spider webs on my chocolate chip stars

I have 2 chocolate chip sea stars and I noticed the other day that both have these spider web type of strands on top of them around the chips.I have only had them for a week so I don't know if it's normal or a sign of distress maybe? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Any pics? I have nassarius snails and they leave a trail like thing on my stars when they cross over them.
