Spiny cup pectinia disease

My pectinia cup already had some bare edges when i got it. I was assured by the fish store that it was due to old MH and it would recover in my tank.

There was an edge that appeared black and scrolled up.

Either there has been tissue regrowth out to that edge, or the black edge is spreading. I'm not sure which.

I was wondering you guys knew what was going on, and if I should cut off the diseased piece.

any ideas?
