I recently took a rio 50, shoved it into a sponge, and turned the out take so that it points back into the sponge. This made a strong sponge filter that created much more water flow, with very little resultant turbidity. however sinse i set it up, my artemia are dissapearing at a way faster rate. I used to have artemia living in my ten gallon for 1-2 days, now they are almost entirely gone within 6-12 hours.
do you think its my new filter?
if so, are artemia killed in normal sponge filter? why or why not?
and I have read articles suggesting the use of power filters in dwarf tanks after the tank is divided with a tank divider, how do these not exhaust the food supply?
