Hi. Yesterday I purchased what I was told to be a sponge at one of my LFS. It acclimated fine and is doing well. However, I totally forgot to ask for a scientific name or common name. The pics I have are not of mine, but some that I found online (at WWM) that are exactly what I have. (though mine is a bit skinnier). I have a frag of a larger colony of this that the LFS has had for some time. If it helps, they sold me a frag that is about 6" long (only 3 branches on it, so not very wide). So here are pics that look almost exactly like mine:
The post on WWM had them saying they thought it was a gorgonian, but I have searched all over on gorgonian IDs, and cannot find this. So, because they have been growing the colony of this for quite some time, I am assuming that my LFS probably knew whether this was a sponge or gorgonian. Sadly I cannot contact them today as they are closed on Mondays, So I'm looking to find out asap, in case there are special conditions that need to be met for it.
