Sponge ID Needed

Featherdusters

Hello.

This is my first time posting on reef central. So please excuse me if I make any mistakes.

This sponge (I think it is a sponge) has been growing in my tank for a while. I have never seen these hairy tube extensions on another sponge before. Anyone have any idea as to what type of sponge this is? Its amazing that this little guy survived being out of the water for 5 hours. He has been in my tank since the cycle. My tank is now 4 months old.

It's a coral, not a sponge. From the pic there just isn't enough detail to identify it.

Wow, really? So far thats the best I can do. I will try to get a better picture later. Is there a way to narrow down the coral catagory. Softie or Hard coral? I haven't prepared my tank for corals yet. I only have a 15W blub for light. Maybe it will do better once I upgrade my lighting and show more features?

It looks like it is encrusting the rock so would guess its a type of hard coral

Yup, its definitely encrusting the rock.

Here is a slightly better pic if this helps anyone. The insides of the hairy tubes appear to range from yellowish green to orangish.
