Sponge Question????

ok so here is my problem everyone...i have a dying sponge..its been dying for bout 3 months..its been slowly disappearing but not fully dying...i know you cant let them touch air and what not so my question is the areas where it is dying at are somewhat see-through or whitish color i was wondering if i can cut off the dying parts and possibly bring the sponge back to life...i dont know if that is even possible but its worth askin about lol anybody have anything to suggest???

Unfortunately it's not the dead areas that are killing your sponge, so cutting those off will not save it. To save the sponge you have to figure out what's killing it. What kind is it? Most sponges we buy are hard to impossible to keep at this point, some sponges flourish but most often we didn't buy them.

Is there air pockets in the sponge? Can it filter feed?
