sponge selection

Hi -

I have a rock structure that creates a nice overhang ... it creates a nice shaded area that I would love to fill in with some type of sponge or nps ... I would like something that is hardy and easier to care for ... any suggestions??

thanks.

I don't think any of the popular ornamental sponges are the way to go since they are not necessarily too easy. I would look at dendrophylia and/or balanophylia. They are pretty cool and are easy (at least IMO) to care for. They just need some meaty foods to remain healthy.

thanks - I have a nice dendro piece that does well ... I feed it the FM lps food ... are the balanophylia similar in care?

Even a nice Sun Coral. They are easy to get and large beautiful ones are on sale. Anything else would be difficult and require a feeding setup.
