SPS and clownfish

Are SPS and clownfish compatible? No seriously.

About 2 weeks ago I bought a bunch of acro frags at the frag swap. Most are alive and well, but every once and a while, my clowns (I think it is them) will knock one off.

I have not tried superglue gel yet, but superglue does not hold long, and the clowns have even broken epoxy! Anything smaller than a baseball is subject to me having to search the tank and put it back.

Oddly, some loosely attached pieces will get left alone. Some pieces have never been touched, other have gone 2 weeks without being touched, only to get moved, and then moved again 5 minutes after I put them back.

The largest clown is my grandmother's favorite, and all the little kids that visit still scream 'Nemo! Nemo!' - so I would hate to get rid of them (the fish, not the kids and grandmother).

I have two true perculas in my sps reef and they have never even touched an acro. I've never heard of anyone have problems with clowns and sps.

I use to have a GSM that would knock frags off/down if I wanted to place it antwhere near her anem. The way I cured the problem was to get rid of the GSM. I tried other ideas but nothing worked if the frgas were near the anem. Sorry

funny :D

never though that was a factor when saying if two things are compatible or not

you had either find a fix, get used to, or get rid of the clown

My hippo likes to move things around, and have taken a bite of .25" of Millie

personality is something no one can predict :D good luck

Maroons especially are territorial and will try to dislodge, move, or attack anything that is introduced near their area of the tank. I have seen mine bulldoze snails, rocks, etc. They amass quite a lot of power behind them.

Unless it is some super small, expensive frag that you couldn't dream of risking, I would glue the guy down, within a few hours if not a day, the clown will realize it isn't a threat and leave it alone.

I'm not sure about adult percula's or "nemo's", but I'll concur that the GSM females will attack anything that they feel is in "her" area. Mine tries to "take out" powerheads even. I'm glad she's in my softie tank.

I'll add that any startled large fish can frag some sps for you. :) (of course you have to mount the pieces later)
