Many reefers who attempted to keep an SPS tank with a pair of Kessil A360s without supplemental T5s usually ran into issues with Acropora, particularly shading issues that were resolved upon adding additional T5s or another form of supplemental lighting. However, I have spoken with a few reefers that did use Kessil only cannon style lights and they swore up and down that most that ran into issues weren't using enough cannons- example: a person with a 4ft reef / 75gal should be using 3-4 cannons instead of the usual two commonly seen.
About three weeks ago we switched this tank ( 430gal) lighting scheme from a mix of Orphek bars and T5s over to 10x Kessil A500s, it's mostly a montipora tank but we do have a few Acropora colonies in there as well, I'm genuinely curious as to the changes and effect the switch up is going to incur,
How many of you all have had good luck with Kessil cannon only tanks ? Particularly SPS dominant tanks running only A80s, AP700s A 360s etc etc without any supplemental lighting? Thoughts ?
