SPS and skimmer size question

I'm looking to upgrade my skimmer and I've have been told buy the biggest skimmer you can afford. Always go larger than you need but how much larger is the question. My tank vloume is 200 gallons and i'm currently upgrading from ASM G3. So does this mean 300 gallons on a heavy load? Anyone have an ideas on this subject I would love to hear them.

Well not sure how much this will equal to your scenario but I have a 29 gallon standard tank with 20 actual gallons and I use a skimmer that will handle up to a 75 gallon. It has been great with my 4 fish bio load and sps dominant tank. So I guess it would equal to lets say almost 4 times. I was always told to do double to triple the actual tank water volume, bigger if you have a large bio load.

I have always been told to over skim. It's better to over skim if your looking to do a ULNS for SPS. I'm running a RO 150 on my new 50 Cadlights system. It's rated at 125 heavily stocked. I feed a lot.

I'm running a bubble magus curve 7 on my 60 gallon tank and it's rated for 200 gallon
