SPS dying... HELP!

Over the past few weeks i've noticed 2 of my acros and now my blue tort are decaying. I've tested my water several times and all is clear. Tested for nitrates, ammonia, ph, calcium, alk. and phosphates. And some of the other SPS, mille and monti cap, are doing great. My girlgreind got a chocolate chip star fish for the tank and said the guy at the LFS claimed it to be reef safe. But i've had to pull him off those corals several times. Is he eating them just because that's what he does or because they're already sick. I've also seen a sally light foot crab pick at it before, but i don't know if he's eating them. Also, i've been battling a nasty diatom and long hair algae outbreak but that nearlly under control. Does anyone know what's going on?

That's what I was afraid of... My gf will be disappointed but it has to go. Do they eat only SPS? I've got a 30G w/ mostly softies. Will it be safe in there?

Chocolate chip starfish are definately NOT reefsafe.

Please research everything before you buy it and don't listen to LFS employees as they only want to sell you something.

Your problem is definitely the star....However, given your algae problem, you have that to deal with as well. SPS do not like tanks that have algae (high nutrients). My suggestion is after getting rid of that star, you start to look at ways to get your nitrates/phosphates to undetectable levels. Your SPS will look alot nicer if all other things are in check.

Well I moved the star to my 30G. It's mostly softies... zoo's, mushrooms, polyps... Will the starfish eat softies as well? My girlfreind loves that starfish so I wanna do what I can to keep it. I've started using that phosguard, i think that's the name, in a filter bag and after pulling and brushing off most of the algae during a water change, it seems to be getting better.
