Sps frag tank lighting question

Im putting together a 40 gallon breeder for SPS frags, is 400 watt mh over kill?

will 250 work for ANY sps? or should i go with 400?

You need to look at the reflector spread and the depth of the coral. A 40B is shallow, so SPS will do fine with either lamp, within the cone of spread.
