sps growth questions

Ok I am curious when a coral is considered a fast grower how much growth should a hobbyist see in say a month? Also what does anyone else think about snipping off a tip of a frag that seems to be in limbo to get it started growing? I thought that I had read that being done to get a coral going. I have a piece of raspberry lemonade that has encrusted just alittle bit but just hasnt done much of anything in the 6 months or so that I have had it. I also have a slimmer that it encrusting pretty good but hasnt started to branch out from the original piece. On the other had I have a pearlberry that has grown maybe 1/2 inch or so in the last 2 months or so.

My raspberry lemonade is the same way. Perhaps it is just a slow grower? Ive had it for about a year and six months and about 6 months after getting it I had a massive alk crash. It took some fragging to save it, and many other corals, but it recovered nicely in a few short months. Anyhow ever since ,which has been about 6-8 months, it has encrusted the plug its on relentlessly and thats all lol. Id say in that time frame other than coloring up beautifully it may have grown 1/8th of an inch! I expect any day its going to take off! Haha. Actually its very normal for acros to encrust and get a solid base going before they start to grow vertically. It does help with some acros to cut the tips to jumpstart their growth. Dont take of any significant amount less than an 1/8 of an inch is sufficient. Hope this helps sorry for rambling lol
