Looking for advice. Last night my ATO pump crapped out. The impeller blades all broke off. Anyway, I needed to top off some evaporated water. so.. I got a cup and started cup by cup adding water from my top of barrel mixed with kalk. It was very stupid of me because I didn't realize I stirred the water moving the pump, causing possibly a more potent kalk water mix. My PH spike from 8.17 to 8.5. I tested alk today and it jumped from 7 to 9 dkh since adding top off. Now PH is back to 8.15. I tested alk because I noticed today some Stn on the lowest stalk of one of my millis and the base of my Graf purple bonsai. Every other Sps is fine. All my colors on the corals are still as vivid from before this incident. My water param are for the most part on point. Normally my params are kept as follows, Cal 440-450, alk at 8, mag 1300-1350, po4 .07 (Hanna) no3 .05 (Hanna). I did not check for anything but alk, and PH spiking.
Obviously the alk and PH spike was the culprit. Should I wait and see if Stn continues before I start chopping the 2 colonies. In your personal past experience are the colonies probably going to continue to Stn. It's truly going to hurt because all my sps were grown from 1" frags and these 2 colonies in particular are big.
I will either way, i'll wait till tomorrow and see if I see more tissue loss.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
