sps melting? H

Hi, I took a rock out of the tank, which has some sps mounted to it, in order to scrape off some gsp and went to put the rock back into the tank and noticed that the sps was melting. That's what it looks like anyways. Will the sps survive or will it continue to melt and die? Should I take the sps out of the tank? Thanks

is it sliming?? if so this is a normal reaction to stress...

do you have a picture...

whatever is wrong with it, i would NOT remove it from the tank

It was out of the water for a few minutes, I had a container of water that I was using to trying to keep it submerged in, but I kept lifting it out in order to scrape off the gsp.

Was there tap water in the container?
I dont think a few min.would cause this unless it was already highly stressed to begine with.

I really think that it is just sliming over like "ooja3k" said. That happens to me anytime I have my SPS frags out of the water to mount them on rubble.

No tap water, just tank water. Two of the sps stopped sliming and the third has almost stopped. I wasn't sure what was going to happen, I thought the coral was going to die. Thanks for the help.

Do you test the water and if so whats the readings?
If water tests good then i would turn lights out and let him relax.

Sure thing, and you will notice that they do it anytime they ( SPS ) are out of the water. It is nothing to worry about, it is natural for that to happen. It is a way to protect the coral when they are out of the water/stressed.

I hate whene they responde with "water tests good". Whats being tested for and there readings as shown is the answer i was looking for.
