SPS Morphing?

I know this happens with zoas quite a bit depending on tank conditions, but how often does this happen with SPS?

The reason I ask is because I have a run of the mill red monti cap, that morphed its polyps into a neon yellow. I've had this monti for years, and for about 1 year, I neglected my tank... Now that I'm bringing it back, I noticed the Monti cap that did survive, half of it has neon yellow polyps, where previously it was red polyps.

My apologies in advance if this is a noob question. I've kept SPS before but only the beginner stuff.

Colors can change but its pretty much environmental. Things like browning can be reversed but things like color changes can also happen, I have one coral that is super blue and every so often it get the most fantastic highlighter pink highlights around the base of the polyps, but it comes and goes.

my sps have moderate color shift almost all the time. some improve while others fade, its a constant battle.. but its fun

Light and nutrients can play a big factor in colors of SPS. For example I have a acro of sorts that was kinda green in the tank from the person I got it from. Now that it has adjusted and is only about 10" away from my lights (LED's with 90degree optics) its a dark green with a blue shimmer to it.

That cool. I had no idea they did this. I knew they browned out and have moderate color shifts, but nothing as drastic as complete polyp change.
