Staghorn Hermit Crab (food suggestions, success rate)

I know these are hard to keep alive I got one from somebody and going to try and keep it living . Normally I would not buy something like this but since its from somebody so its worth the shot .
Got 2 types of phytoplankton Nano and Tetra , so going to start feeding those for the shell , any other suggestions for foods?
Any success with Staghorns ? There is not much info on them and I have yet to see an aquarium with them living , any help or people with experience taking care of these crabs is greatly appreciated !

When I bought my helmet he was pink. Six months later he's been all over the tank cleaning substrate. Never fed him. He's now an algae covered green
