Star Polyps wont open

i bought a large green star polyp last Sat. from Kermits ...and its still has yet to open .. any ideas?

Jason, the first time this happened to my GSP I thought they had died for sure. They were perfectly healthy one day, and the next day, they didn't open... and stayed closed for about a week. it seems to be a normal thing; several days later they opened up like there was nothing the matter! So, don't worry, they'll be back! May take a couple days, may take a week! But they'll be back. (unless you start to see crabs crawling all over them, picking at decaying tissue!!!, with evil, foul smelling, putrid... ur..ah... I get ahead of myself... they'll be fine!)

uh!! there was a blue leg hermit and an astrea on it when i got home today

Yep. Check for hermits, snails, urchins (if you have one), or nipping fish. Out of balance alkalinity, in addition to all of the above have set mine off.
