Starcki damsel advice

I'm hoping somebody can advise me on a starcki damsel please. Considering adding one as my last addition to a 2foot cube containing a ornate wrasse, jawfish & a fu Manchu lion fish. The tank only has 8kg of live rock, would the starcki be a little bu**er or would it be ok as a last addition?

I had a Starcki damsel once and I want to get another. I lost him when my heater broke and overheated the tank.

I loved that little fish. The vibrant blue and yellow colors were beautiful.

He was fairly large( about 3 inches) but relatively peaceful for a damsel. Definitely not a "terror". I had him in a 50 gallon "quarantine" tank with a Majestic angel, Moorish Idol, and Flame hawkfish. He only seemed to bother the hawkfish occasionally.

I would probably try to get a small one ( but not too small or else the Fu Manchu might try to eat him) and just provide plenty of hiding places for everyone.

If and when you find one, please let me know where. I have been working on getting my LFS to get one for the better part of a year and they haven't gotten one yet. I've never owned one, but it's one of the top fish on my list. Eventually, it will be going in a 120 fowlr.

In my area (Ohio) they appear to be fairly difficult to get. One of the more rare/unusual damsels, so you may not find much info on them. I have almost pulled the trigger on a few from LA DD before, but it becomes a 75 dollar fish after shipping, that's a little steep for a damsel in my opinion.

Good luck.

I'm in England so not much use to you  but I found 3 on Friday in a shop 15 minutes from my house they said they get roughly 12 a year in.

I had one and he was nasty. I had him in a 90 with some larger fish that you'd think would have held there own. He destroyed fins and became really territorily after only a month. I realize he was just doing what a damsel does, but I thought I would mention so that you didn't have a notion that it was a peaceful fish.

I've just got mine here in Hong Kong. Very peaceful for a damselfish. This year is not a very good year for starcki and it's now a low season for it. I've only seen 10 during for the passed summer.

I have decided against one due to the chance of this happening. Just can't risk the happiness of the other inhabitants.

I'm not sure if it is my location in the United States, or what, but we haven't seen one all year, and I hound my LFS to get one in.

I am to the point where the next time one shows up on the LA DD, I may just have to pull the trigger. At 62 bucks, that's real close to what I would pay after shipping from an online retailer, so I guess that makes me feel a little better. Still a bunch to spend on a damsel though.

My starkii is a model citizen. He does defend his little territory, but only with a hawk fish. Most fish, including my small blennies, are ignored. I have seen a few available locally with price in the US $50 range.

My lfs supposedly has 6 coming in on Monday, and I have first dibbs. I have been waiting on this fish for over a year now, so we'll see what happens.
