Starfire ?

I won't go back... I was skeptical untill I bought an Oceanic Ultimate tank... I won't have another tank that isn't starfire... :D

if you was at the swap, I think he had some samples of starfire and regular glass. At least there was 2 pieces of glass on their table. 1 was was really clear and the other had a green tint to it.

I'll let you know next week, I have one on the way. I have always been able to tell a big difference between glass and acrylic but I am so tired of scraping coraline algae off of acrylic im done with acrylic.

All "Starphire" glass is, is PPG's name brand for low iron glass.

It's like "Advil" and ibuprofen. Pretty much the samething to most. Some people insist on Advil.

And yes, I believe CG carries PPG's Starphire glass.

Yes GC is starphire and yes it is worth every dime and more. The amount that tom buys he gets better prices then anyone around I know I brought my glass from him after checking a lot of dist. and they said the price I was getting it was lower then there cost.

I looked at the samples and it was amaazing the color differences but he also was showing a 3/4" peice which will naturally be more green. I have regular GC's glass in my big tank and it doesn't look green to me at all but I am gonna bite the bullet and get starfire on my new tank. Mainly because its a see through both sides though and you would notice the tint I think that way.

Exact same here except I have a GC tank with starphire.

If you want to see the difference, check out this pic I took of my tank:

This is of the back, right hand corner where the starphire is on the right and the "normal" glass is on the left (which would be the back of my tank).

I think its more than worth it to get it. You get the clarity of acrylic but with the durability of glass. I love it!

You sure can see the difference in both piece Brandon. Don't starphire glass help with algae on glass issue as well??? Easier to clean? Does it scratch as easy as regular glass?

I think I get algae evenly. Its easy to clean, but I'm not sure if its "easier" than regular glass as I don't clean the back of my tank... the snails do. :D I have scratched mine, but it was my fault when I put the rocks in. And also once or twice with sand in the mag float. But I'm not planning on reselling, anyway. Once I get a bigger tank this one will make a great seahorse tank. ;)
