Starfish explosion

I have had a star fish explosion. They look like brittle stars and are lying the top of the rocks arms out stretched. I have one brittle star and have always had micro brittle stars but never to this extreme. Any thoughts as to why?

Can one brittle star that I have had for 10 years do this on it own? Or are these more likely the micro brittle stars?

I love micro brittles... I'd gladly take a few off your hands! Maybe a few dozen??? LOL. I found 1 on a frag 2 months ago, haven't seen 1 since.

They are more likely the micros and in a spawning event they will come out en masse and "stand up." There are a couple of videos on YouTube demonstrating this.

I had the same explosion. I was looking in my 180 and they were all over.

Well I returned home today and they are all back to hiding. All I can assume is that I have them in every nook and cranny of my tank. There had to be 100-200 of them that I saw. If that was a spanning event then I guess I'll have a lot more.

Sorry to those who wanted some for their tank. I don't see how to get them now. If you do let me know. I'll share.

Funny, same happened in my tank this week. Some are black, some are black/white stripes
