Starfish regen / propagation

We have 3 harlequins and they are getting pricey to feed. Sand sifters seem the best value for the amount of meat but I'm looking for ideas on how to grow, regen and breed them in a separate fish only tank.

They seem to like the pest ones the best, but does anyone have experience with different stars to feed them? Also does anyone know the regen rate of an arm on a star & if you can cut 2 off or just one?

other than astriena star fish i don't think anyone has ever been able to breed stars.
