I use loctite super glue gel. I have tried others this works the best for me.

I use IC-Gel, it is made by BSI (Bob Smith Industries).
It is really thick and stacks up well on the frag.

best is to clean the rock with a brush and than use a sandwich of glue - epoxy - glue on the frag and put in tank, press and done.

I use water weld found in HD. Works OK. and is cheap....

I must be doing something wrong. Everyone reccommends JB water weld sandwiched between gel super glue. Super glue works fine, but that water weld epoxy never fully hardens and turns soft and brittle. Any pointers?

Well if I am jaming the plug into a crevis and only need the waterweld to hold it in place, then I dont use glue... Stays soft for a while but gets hard as a rock. I had to remove a frag that only had a nub on the bottom of the plug and it took alot to break it free.


If I am gluing a flat disk, then I just put it in place with the glue then smush a little water weld around the sides to make it look like part of the rock. Sometimes I even jam some aragonite into it so it looks more like rock..

Some times I need to do it in stages as the weith of the frag will make the epoxy sag... after it hardens I can hit it again with some more...

For me it depends on the size of the frag. For tiny frags sometimes just a Superglue Gel. For anything bigger than a 1" stub, I use the epoxy with superglue to each surface. I use this technique even for mounting colony sized pieces.

You just have to be very careful when using the epoxy. When you roll it in your hands you can get traces of the epoxy on your fingers and then when you pickup the coral/frag it transfers onto the coral you get little freckles of dead spots.

And as always when using any of these methods wear surgical gloves. You will be amazed all the horrible places you can get superglue stuck to, especially once it gets wet and gets super gelly. Wear gloves and save your corals and yourself from lots of discomfort.

any super glue gel will work. i buy the cheap stuff from the dollar store. as long as it is gel then it will hold. glue and then press against the rock and hold it for 30 seconds. is will harden within a couple minutes.
