Stinky zoos = doom?

Hi all I just got a order in today and one of the bags with Zoos stinks bad when opened. I know this usually means something bad happened, but does it mean there is no chance for the zoos to live?
Anyone get a shipment that was bad smelling but lived? Am going to dip and put inder good flow and see but Just wanted to know if there is any hope.

How long was it in transit? Check for dead sponges.

It was 14 1/2 hrs from the time it showed picked up from vendor to arriving at my door and being floated. The water in all of my bags was a nasty color but only one is stinky.

I just did the dip and the colony broke into 2 pieces, the larger piece doesnt stink so much but the smaller one does and I can see dead zoos hanging off it.

I'd say it could be the zoos, or could very easily and more likely be sponge or something else on the rock that died while in transit. if you see a brown film on them, and they smell like butt, then it's the zoos, and it's doubtful that a dip is going to cure that slime

It could be an anoxic area releasing hydrogen sulfide from the broken rock.

Well unfortunatly it was the zoos, they are all white gooy mass now.

Yeah i had zoos smell like crap even open up then over the next two days the died.

I was just looking at them and they have some nasty white goo growing over them. I pulled them out and blew it all off and tried to cut off as many zoo corpses as I could. I am just going to check everyday in hopes that at least one polyp will live.

Sometimes it could be a mucous layer being shed and there will be a faint layer of tissue left... but withouta pic it's hard to tell.(even then it's hard to tell)
