hello again folks , without a doubt this is the best (reef central nano forum) nano reef forum i have come across, every body seems so into there hobby, and willing to help begineers,it's fantastic. My question ,just bought 24g aquapod with the stock lighting and filter system, will i be able to keep some beginer corals and 1 or 2 non-aggresive fish in the tank as it is.i will be getting at least 20 lb of live rock and possibly some live sand or just just crushed coral about 1" deep . i am sure there is someone out there that is or has done the same thing. and has been
sucsessful THANKS STUART

The aquapod is great for sofites,& lps.

IMO i would not go with the crushed coral, over time it will become a nitrate trap.

Yeah, ditch the crushed coral. It could throw your water quality in the dumper real quick. Sandbeds can help keep your nitrates in check. Plus with crushed coral you can't have any sand burrowing fish.

Not sure what the AP comes with, my Nano came with ceramic rings, bio-balls & a sponge. I tossed it all.
I run Chemi-pure, Purigen and Phosban as my media in the back chambers. I use filter floss instead of the sponge because I don't think you can rinse them enough to get the waste out of them. With the filter floss I just throw it away and replace it with a clump of new floss weekly when I do my water changes. I also upgraded my pump to a MaxiJet 1200 for more flow.

Here's a link to my tank build in case it helps:
