I need some ideas guys and girls..... Don't really want the usual clownfish but I would like some open water swimmers. How about wrasses??? Tank is 24x24x12

Wrasses that are more peaceful will get to big. I have a canary fang blenny and he is one of my favorite fish.

What about a flame hawkish? Or a yellow clown goby? They're both great fish. Their temperaments are different. Do you know if you want a peaceful tank or semi-aggressive? Once you make that decision, stocking becomes easier.

Wow I was planning to get a 24x24x16. I was planning on a few dartfish or cardinals. I may make chromis the majority of my fish though. We shall see =)

The Canary Blenny's are pretty fish but remember;

If attacked by other fish, the Canary Blenny will retaliate by biting the inside of the mouth of the attacker. The Canary Blenny is considered venomous and should be kept only with caution around children having tank access since it may perceive fingers as an attacker and deliver a similarly painful bite.

+1 on the flame hawkfish

I wouldn't do 2 shrimp gobies. You could do a jawfish & a goby/pistol combo. Jawfish has to be the first one in the tank to get established. They will jump along w/ the goby but are less likely to if first ones in.

Too small for all the fancy peaceful wrasses but you could put a possum or pink streaked wrasse in there.

1 dartfish firefish are nice and smaller, zebra add some cool color, along with blues.
1 fang blenny 3-3.5in max
2 small gobies (2 inch max, ORA breeds some cool ones)
1 cardinalfish 3-3.5in max
