Stocking List for a Biocube 29

I just moved apartments and bought a biocube 29. It's sort of bittersweet as I had to tear down my previously owned 85 gal and give most of my fish to a new home (they upgraded to a 1200 gal pool at a large, LFS who takes pretty good care of fish).

Anyway, one fish that I couldn't part with was my little blue dot toby who is currently in a 20 gal aquarium waiting for me to set up the biocube.

Will he be ok in a tank the size of a biocube?

I was thinking about getting a few other fish as well.

At most, I was considering getting a McCosker's wrasse, a percula or occ. clown, and possibly a type of blenny (probably a tail spot).

Would this tank accommodate those fish comfortably?

Sorry to hear you had to give away all your fish at least they went to a good home. I think your toby will be fine in a biocube, my old blue dot toby was fine in a standard 29 and he was pretty much full grown.

Cool. I figured he'd be ok but I feel guilty downgrading him so much. As long as it won't affect his health I'm fine with it.

He doesn't seem terribly unhappy being in the 20 which is about the same length as the cube.

It sucked getting rid of my other fish. I'm a sucker for getting attached to things though. I've been meaning to go visit them :D.

I don't think I would put a flasher wrasse in a 29. You might want to think about a possum wrasse or pinkstripe wrasse instead.

A tailspot would also be good. One of my favorite fish.

I figured the wrasse would probably be toeing the line a bit. I'll probably find something else to fill that slot then. I'm assuming how active they are is the reason I should avoid them?

When you say pinkstripe you're not talking a mealanurus wrasse are you (first thing to come up in a search)? Could you maybe help me out with a Genus/species or a link to the correct species?

Pistol/goby pair is a good suggestion though I'm a bit worried my puffer might decide to end their relationship prematurely :) (i.e. late night snack).

I'll have to keep brainstorming.

Yep, that's the one. They're related to mystery wrasses and sixlines, but without the attitude.

I agree it's probably a bad idea to put a shrimp in with your toby.

That's not a bad looking little wrasse. I've never heard of that species before.

indy you think any wrasse would be a bad addition or the pygmy pink stripe specifically?

I think the smaller (possum) wrasses would be fine. They look pretty cool.

I think a fairly/flasher wrasse would be an issue. There was a video on youtube where he was flashing 24/7 due to stress in a BC.

I had two clowns and a firefish in my BC29 before I upgraded.

That's concerning. I keep hearing different opinions on the flasher wrasse. Nano Reefs.com seems fine with flashers in cubes but RC has a very differing opinion.

It kind of doesn't seem worth chancing, especially as I haven't heard a lot of "hands on experience" it would make me extremely nervous to jeopardize the health of a McCosker's just because I would like one.

Do you guys know what kind of fish this is?

It's the second picture in post #10, the green and red striped wrasse.

If a wrasse won't cut it, would a royal gramma be an ok option?

Sadly I am poor :D. Those candy basslets (I'm assuming you're talking carmabi?) are so ungodly expensive. I do not understand the price tag. They're beautiful but I don't get it.

If you have the money, the mystery wrasse on liveaquaria.com looks pretty darn cool IMHO.
They get too big and aggro for this tank.

DD has a pink streaked wrasse (which I mistakenly called a "pink striped" in my earlier post - stupid common names!): http://www.liveaquaria.com/DiversDen/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=166552

It's not that impressive looking, but maybe it's a juvenile. You might be able to keep both the pink streaked and possum wrasses. They're both a little cryptic, though.

Typically your options for Biocubes go as such, chromis, some clowns, blennies, gobies, cardinals, firefish and maybe a basslet.

Did I miss somewhere that you mentioned the puffer? I'm thinking that adding that much with a puffer in there too may be a bit much. They're pretty high bioload fish anyway correct?!
