I don't know much about those skimmers. But most of them have a air line to the front of the intake on the pump.
Can you post a pic or a video.

heres is the skimmer i found on youtube with the maxijet 1200 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXPYMFwJ8DM i notice some usee another pump for it,dang it i cant remember the name either

later i'll post a vid of my skimmer working and see if ya guys can see a problem with my sumps drain/skimmer section,maybe its too small or something too
