Stocking refugium.

Hey everyone!

So I don't have anything in my tank yet but I was definitely looking at stocking my refugium too.

I have a lot of dry rock in there. I plan on adding chaeto and pods. I was thinking maybe a couple of hermit crabs. What would be some interesting ones?

What else would be good? I don't have any sand in there. Maybe I could add some? What would be fine with a bare bottom tank? Any shrimp?

Thanks in advance!

just rocks and chaeto are good enough. i'd want to keep it simple for cleaning. hermits will eat the chaeto.

You could throw a few emerald/porclean/hermit crabs and/or peppermint/camel/cleaner shrimps in there. It's good to have a small clean up crew in the refugium to eat any excess detritus. I have a small clean up crew in mine and they are doing well and help keep the refugium clean. Limit the amount of livestock you put in there because you want pods to be able to thrive there and crabs and shrimp may eat pods.

My chaeto is infested with bristle worms, the little brittle stars and random assorted snails. No need for anything else IMO.
