Storing live rock?

Hello all,

I have about fifty pounds of recently dried out live rock. Im wondering if I can cure that in a plastic tub and breath life back into it or would I need to place a piece of cured live rock in with it?

If its dead its dead. Cant leave it outta water for long. Your going to have to put it back into a tank for it to take on life again. Putting it in a tub with some other live rock might do something but it wont color up or take a real affect of live rock until its back in a tank.

Should I scrub it down a bit before throwing it in my tank?

yes, if it really is dead, then it may create another cycle in your tank.

Yea you should scrub it a bit a rinse it then you should be ok. You just dont want a bunch of dead things on it to go into your tank or it will create high ammonia and start cycle. How long has this rock been sitting out of water?

Thanks for your info. It has been dry for about two weeks.

Things will pick-up a bit faster if you add new live rock in with the old.
